The Last Sontaran is the first episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 2. It will feature the return of the Brigadier. Possible confusion with the series finale, which features the same Sontaran and Lethbridge-Stewart

- The last time the Brig was in Doctor Who was in the 1989 episode Battlefield.
- The Sontarans last appeared in Doctor who in two parter The Sontaran Stratagem and The Poison Sky.
- The Time Warrior was the first episode to introduce Sarah Jane and the Sontarans. There was also an appearence with the Brig in that episode but with no interaction with the Sontaran.

=== Rumours ===*The symbol on the collar of the Sontaran shown in the trailer is similar to the one on Staals collar. This could mean that he survived the destruction of the Tenth Sontaran Battle Fleet, therefore being 'The Last Sontaran'. The Sontaran that features in this episode is identical to Staal. The Sontaran is similar to Staal but the collar suggests that it ia a Commander as it is the same collar as Commander Skorr.
