Luke Ward was the assistant of Sir George Stephenson. He was Hypnotised by the Master to lead Peri into the forest to pick hearbs. When in fact he was going to lead her to mines which when they exploded they turned people into trees. He Unfortunitly steped on one and was turned into a tree. His branches later saved Peri from stepping on one. (DW: The Mark of the Rani)
