Kurdistan

In the 19th and 20th centuries, the Yezidi people resided in Kurdistan. R. W. H. Empson and Richard Carnac Temple met the Yezidi there and wrote about them in The Cult of the Peacock Angel: A Short Account of the Yezidi Tribes of Kurdistan. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
