I feel like I'm going insane, these words are verbs and nouns, their noun forms are identical to their verb forms and "a stop" is the same as "stopping" or "to stop". Cookieboy 2005 ☎ 16:33, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

We need a citation of the noun form of the word for the page to merit existence though, which currently it doesn't have. And I'd argue that the meaning of "a stop" and "to stop" are different enough that examples of "to stop" shouldn't be cited on the page; a stop is where one stops, it's a completely different meaning, to my mind. I personally disagree quite strongly on at least whether a use of it as a noun should be needed, since if the info would be cited there either way, surely it shouldn't rely on something as abstract as that? I also feel like "a stop", as in "a harsh stop", is very much referring to the action of stopping, being stopped, etc. Cookieboy 2005 ☎ 16:42, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

I find that usage unconventional, but I suppose I'll allow it. But if the page has only examples of the verb cited, then it is a page on that verb, not a page on the noun that also happens to have examples of the noun on there for comprehensiveness' sake, and I think that we certainly shouldn't allow them.
