The Chaos Engine was a three-book story from the Marvel Multiverse, primarily featuring the X-Men. The trilogy concerns three supervillains using a Cosmic Cube to merge Earth-616 with a reality where they are in control, being Doctor Doom, Magneto, and the Red Skull, respectively.

The story made use of many Marvel UK elements such as those from Captain Britain and Excalibur, with Roma (the daughter of Merlyn) asking the X-Men to solve the Omniverse-threatening crisis caused by the Cosmic Cube. It also featured the character of the Chief Physician (a thinly-veiled version of the Seventh Doctor, and later the Fourth Doctor) hired by Roma and Merlyn to work at the Starlight Citadel, playing a large role in the plot thread set on Otherworld. This includes him recognising Opal Luna Saturnyne as "Special Executive", an organisation which debuted in Doctor Who Weekly's 4-D War [+]Loading...["4-D War (comic story)"].
