K9 belonged to an incarnation of the Doctor who required the use of a wheelchair.
At a point prior to 5 March 2005, someone photographed the Doctor and K9. This photo would later be in the possession of Clive Finch. (PROSE: Rose [+]Loading...["Rose (novelisation)"])

Although it is not explicitly stated in the original Rose [+]Loading...["Rose (novelisation)"] novelisation of the television episode [+]Loading...{"noital":"1","1":"Rose (TV story)","2":"the television episode"} released in 2018, the illustrated edition released in 2023 confirmed the robot dog accompanying the Doctor to be a K9 unit.
