From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Mappin Gilder was the accounts manager of the Archaeology department at St Oscar's University.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Mappin Gilder was hired by the Archaeology department of St Oscar's University in 2593 as their facilitator, a role which involved saving department finances and finding new sources of funding and sponsorship. He was impressed by Romolo Nusek's offer for Bernice Summerfield's services and Divson Follett insisted that she take him with her on Nusek's expedition to Stanturus Three.

Gilder, Benny and Nicholas Clyde went to Tharn to meet with Nusek and Gilder asked about the worth of every work of art he saw at the Castle of Ice and Fire. On Stanturus Three, he was put in charge of the geophysics equipment, but Mastrov disconnected the equipment in an attempt to kill Benny by making her disturb a nest of rodent creatures. Nicholas then had him taken off his team. Following the discovery of the supposed Stanturan Dragon, which was actually the Gamalian Dragon planted there by Mastrov to give Nusek a claim to the planet, Gilder returned to Dellah with Benny.

According to one account, Gilder went to Benny's office to apologise and caught Mastrov searching it, prompting her to choke him to death. This account had Irving Braxiatel acting as chairman of the Stanturan Inquiry, (PROSE: Dragons' Wrath [+]Loading...["Dragons' Wrath (novel)"]) whilst another had Gilder acting in this role and releasing Benny and Nicholas from Nusek's custody. In this account, he worked out that Nicholas murdered the archaeologists on his team on Stanturus, was taken captive with Benny and Nicholas to Tharn and escaped with Benny after Nusek's death.
