Welcome to the Tardis:About JagoAndLitefoot

Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Master stuffedit source

I don't seem to be able to add anything to the Master thread because of some sort of technical fault. I've already lost several attempts at a reply. I'm just going to post it here so that I can get on with my life. If you'd like to reply, and can do so at the thread, please do so there.

Ugh. This thing ate my post. That sucks. Anyway, I basically do agree that the section head is no longer appropriate given the new place this section has in the article. I have therefore accepted your proposal that it be changed to "Impersonating the Doctor", and I've changed macqueen to reflect that.

But I still don't think I agree with you that it is necessarily something that happens before the TVM. I don't get where you're getting that at all.

Please explain your rationale for why Dominion takes place on the Survival side of the TVM, and why it's impossible for it to happen on the Rose side.

Also, I do have to again stress that you never do anything like this on the page again. Please reread any one of the many strong warnings on the page the Master. They all say:

Please do not change this section title in any way, as template coding depends on it being PRECISELY as it is.

That does not reasonably mean "change it first and then create a discussion about it later".

It means that regular editors are not ever to change section heads on that page. It is an admin-only job, done after a discussion at Forum:Panopticon.

Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

Liv and Sevenedit source

Liv was in the background for the majority of Robophobia, and was never advertised as being a companion to Seven as Chan and Astrid were. The trilogy containing Robophobia was actually advertised as a solo Seventh Doctor trilogy, and to call Liv a companion in it would mean we'd also have to call the other crew members of the Lorelei companions, as they had as much "screen time" as her. For her being a companion of Eight was different, as she was advertised as such since before Dark Eyes 2 was aired, as well as the obvious fact that she travelled in the TARDIS with him. --Revan\Talk 16:31, April 23, 2014 (UTC)

Image sizeedit source

Hi :) Thanks for trying to upload a cover image of The Fall of the House of Pollard. Unfortunately it was way, way too big. At 1.5 megs, it was taxing even my computer, and I'm on a super fast Mac Pro Server with internet speeds near 100 megabits/sec. I can't even imagine what that pic was doing to people who are trying to look at the page on their iPads in a coffee shop in rural Lancashire.

It's very, very important to remember to keep your images to no more than 100kb. That's kilobytes, as it directly impacts how well the average guest can download a page.

If you need help trying to understand how to compress your images, please feel free to ask me or SmallerOnTheOutside.

Cybermenedit source

Hi! I noticed you left an edit summary stating you were "merging" Cyberman pages. Please stop right now. Merging is an act that only certain admins have the ability to do. If a non-admin tries to do the process, certain important steps will be left out.

In addition, this seems like a pretty major move to me. This is not something that can be decided by one user. If you think it's a necessary move, please start a forum post at Board:The Panopticon to allow discussion. Thanks. Shambala108 03:17, November 10, 2014 (UTC)

Since you didn't read my first message, I have reverted the edits you made to Cyberman. Please bring this issue to the forum before doing any more work on it. Shambala108 03:25, November 10, 2014 (UTC)

Big Finish free episodesedit source

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I've left a message on CzechOut's talk page re Thread:166151, so hopefully he can give us an answer pretty soon. Shambala108 05:19, November 24, 2014 (UTC)

re:Lukasedit source

I deleted it because that is my standard practice when a non-admin moves pages: I checked the links and no pages linked to it. I will restore it, but in the future, if you see a need for a name change, use either a rename or speedy rename tag so an admin can do the work required.

Also, if you could please proofread (with the preview button) any messages you post on my and other users' talk pages, that way, we won't get multiple emails regarding the same message. Thanks. Shambala108 15:10, February 2, 2015 (UTC)

Page movesedit source

Hi! Please note that, per Thread:128198, non-admins are not to move pages but must instead use either Rename or Speedy rename. Thanks. Shambala108 19:24, April 16, 2015 (UTC)

Just a reminder that we prefer that non-admins don't move pages. The reasons are given at Thread:128198. Thanks. Shambala108 20:01, August 13, 2015 (UTC)

The Companyedit source

Oh... well, I've wasted my time. I should have probably checked to see if it was named something else. Thanks for the heads-up.--Skittles the hog - talk 01:11, November 1, 2015 (UTC)

All's well that ends well. On a related note, I started a discussion at talk:Sandminer robot the other day about reworking the article. I'm not sure it'll amount to anything any time soon, but, as you're familiar with the stories other than Robots of Death, I wondered if you could shed any more light on the issue.--Skittles the hog - talk 01:25, November 1, 2015 (UTC)

The Black Holeedit source

Awesome, thank you! I haven't heard that story and it doesn't mention that anywhere on the page, so I just wanted to make sure the category added was a right one. Happy editing! :)

Audio storiesedit source

Hi! A couple of years ago you participated in the project at Thread:137970, where we tried to accumulate credit lists for audio stories. The project stalled for a while, but User:AdricLovesNyssa has revived it. If you have anything new you would like to add, please head over to the thread so we can maybe get this thing off the ground. Thanks! Shambala108 05:33, May 31, 2016 (UTC)

Alexander Hamiltonedit source

Some good points. I removed both, and replaced them with category:People from the real world encountered by the Doctor, which is what you're meant to use when it's unclear which incarnation.

Re:The Long Conedit source

Well, a picture of the Second Doctor on Alice Obeifune's phone appears, but he doesn't. I'm fairly certain that only "in the flesh" appearances count. CoT ? 06:28, December 27, 2016 (UTC)

Videosedit source

Hi! Please note that only admins are permitted to upload videos to this wiki. Please see Tardis:Video policy for details. Thanks. Shambala108 01:13, April 27, 2017 (UTC)

Sarah Jane Smithedit source

I see you mentioned on Sarah Jane Smith's page that she's been killed off in Diamond Dogs (novel). I don't suppose you have proof of it? The edit on the book's page was by EastEnderFan101, who I see has been blocked - that throws doubt over that edit's validity. And someone on Reddit is claiming the book doesn't mention Sarah's death.  Digifiend  Talk  PR/SS  KR  MH  Toku  JD  Garo  TH  CG  UM  Logos  CLG  DW  18:59, 30/4/2017

Screenshotsedit source

Hey! Just a quick reminder that screenshots should be jpgs, not pngs. I re-uploaded your two most recent screenshots as jpgs, but in the future, they will just be deleted. You can get a quick overview of our image rules at Help:Image cheat card. Thanks! P&P talk contribs 04:46, July 2, 2017 (UTC)

Re:Dvoraedit source

Hey there, thanks for the note - I'd written up something for an article talk page, but I guess I never got around to actually posting it. Basically, I think there's some extra context regarding the way that members of the Great Houses are named in Faction Paradox that counts as sufficient in-universe evidence to qualify Romana as a Dvora member. Here's what I'd written:

Imagine an alien is introduced as "Jorax'aithlando"; then, in a later story, we meet a race of aliens called the Aithlando. The Aithlando clearly belong to the same species as Jorax, and it's established all of their members have the "'aithlando" suffix at the end of their common names. Would it be speculation to say, based on this story, that Jorax is a member of the Aithlando?

I don't think it would be, and I think that scenario is completely analogous to what we have going on with Romanadvoratrelundar and House Dvora. House Dvora, like Tracolix and Xianthellipse, is a ruling House in PROSE: The Book of the War, and throughout multiple valid stories (both in Faction Paradox and Doctor Who) there's an established pattern where a name includes that person's Great House. For instance, take Ruthventracolixabaxil from PROSE: Alien Bodies, more often called Ruthven; Quencessetianobayolocaturgrathadadeyyilungbarrowmas from PROSE: Lungbarrow, more often called Quences; and Goralschaixianthellipse from PROSE: Against Nature, more often called Goralschai. Romanadvoratrelundar, more often called Romana, follows this exact same pattern, and just as it's not speculation to say that Jorax'aithlando is a member of the Aithlando, it's not speculation to say that Romanadvoratrelundar is a member of House Dvora.

(There is admittedly an apparent contradiction where Romana was said to be in the House of Heartshaven in some Gallifrey audios. However, I'll point out that she's also said to be in the Prydonian Chapter; the Chapters have been said in stories like AUDIO: Neverland and PROSE: The Book of the War to be ruling Houses, just like Dvora. And these ruling Houses have plenty of sub-Houses. For instance, the members of House Meddhoran in Against Nature are also part of House Xianthellipse. In any case, the idea that Romana could be part of House Dvora and House Heartshaven at the same time isn't some crazy contradiction.)

[endquote] So yeah, that was my reasoning for adding Category:House Dvora members to Romana. Please let me know if this has helped to address your concern. NateBumber 04:38, August 10, 2017 (UTC)

So you would posit that, in the hypothetical example I provided, it would be speculation to say that Jorax is a member of the Aithlando? NateBumber 14:58, August 10, 2017 (UTC)
I'd say it's clearer for characters created for Faction Paradox, but it's a bit more of a stretch with preexisting characters that the creators of FP don't have the rights to. Furthermore, you compared House Dvora to the Prydonian chapter, but Heartshaven is a Prydonian house according to the audios. And we have full Gallifreyan names for other non-FP characters that don't really fit any of the houses (even if their house was stated). So I'd say it's speculation if not stated outright unless it's an FP character specifically. JagoAndLitefoot 19:30, August 10, 2017 (UTC)
