In 1399, Henry Plantagenet, also known as Henry of Bolingbroke, led the English barons in revolt against King Richard II and deposed him. Henry seized the throne, becoming Henry IV. Richard II was imprisoned in Pomfret Castle while his wife Queen Isabella was imprisoned in Sonning Palace.
