References
- The Master was killed and came back to life 85 times.
- River is trained in Venusian aikido.
- Missy uses her sonic umbrella to scramble the coordinates on River Song's vortex manipulator.
Notes
- This is the first audio drama to feature Missy. Michelle Gomez had previously appeared in Valhalla as a different character.
- This is also the first Big Finish story to feature a character originating from the Twelfth Doctor era.
- The story's title is a transparent reference to the Bechdel test (pronounced the same way), which is intended to measure women's representation in fiction. To pass the Bechdel test, a story should feature women talking to each other about something other than a man. While River Song and Missy's discussions in this story are mainly focused on the Doctor, whom they both know from male regenerations, in an ironic twist, the current Doctor's regeneration at the time of the story's release was female.
- The events of NOTVALID: The Curse of Fatal Death are directly referenced, with Missy having crawled a long time in the sewer system of Tersurus.
Continuity
- River at first wonders if the solidogram of the Director is an android, or Flesh. Both River herself as a baby and, earlier, her mother Amy Pond were replaced by Flesh duplicates in a ploy by Kovarian. (TV: The Almost People, A Good Man Goes to War)
- Later in life, River would be able spot androids on sight, claiming they're "rubbish". (TV: Silence in the Library)
- Missy becomes disappointed when River remarks "she has the wrong person". Missy asks if she wasn't the Time Lord she was hoping for. (TV: Silence in the Library, et al.)
- Missy turns a pile of dirt into a weapon. She will later do the same with leaves, turning it into a gun. (TV: The Lie of the Land)
- Missy tells River she is "a huge admirer of [her] work". This might be referencing her past encounters with River, which haven't happened yet from River's point-of-view. (AUDIO: Animal Instinct, The Lifeboat and the Deathboat, Concealed Weapon)
- The Master met the Doctor on his first day at the Academy and the latter probably had a crush on him. (TV: World Enough and Time)
