A hollow spectacular was a film re-edited by Faction Hollywood to be worse than the original.

The new version was incorporated into the original through alter-time rituals. This made it so that not everyone experienced the same movie. The method was used to lessen the success of films competing against those of the Faction's clients. Attempts to make improved versions proved prohibitively expensive, so the Faction used intensive marketing to achieve that effect.

Michael Brookhaven wanted to raise the hollow spectacular to its own art form. The end result was the film Mujun: The Ghost Kingdom. Ironically, the process worked so well that no one could agree whether it was a critical and economic success or had failed miserably. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
