This article needs to be updated.

Script editing jobs for SJA series 2-5 also need checking.

These omissions are so great that the article's factual accuracy has been compromised. Check out the discussion page and revision history for further clues about what needs to be updated in this article.

Gary Russell (born 18 September 1963[1]) was the editor of Doctor Who Magazine between 1992 and 1995. He was also the executive producer for Big Finish Productions from 1998 to 2006, when he stepped down to begin script editing for the BBC Wales Doctor Who series. He worked as producer for both the Bernice Summerfield series, as well as the Gallifrey series. He has written many Doctor Who novels, one of which was Spiral Scratch, which served as the acting regeneration story for the Sixth Doctor (for a while).

Russell has worked as an actor since childhood, including a teenage appearance in the James Bond film Octopussy. He had a minor role in The Airzone Solution, a production notable for the many ex-Doctor Who actors in it, including Jon Pertwee, Colin Baker, Peter Davison, Sylvester McCoy, Nicola Bryant and Michael Wisher. He directed the animated stories The Infinite Quest and Dreamland. He wrote the jam-packed Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia. In 2008, he became the head writer for a new American Doctor Who comic book mini series published by IDW, retroactively titled Agent Provocateur. It should not be confused with IDW's later Doctor Who (2009), a true ongoing monthly comic book. He contributed to the Davros Connections documentary. He also was the drama producer for the 2011 adventure game The Gunpowder Plot and a voice director for the rest of the games.

He also contributed to the charity reference book Behind the Sofa: Celebrity Memories of Doctor Who.

He was credited for his "invaluable assistance and generosity" in It's Even Bigger on the Inside, first published 2015, alongside many others.
