Kyoto is in Japan; the Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler and Jack Harkness visited here before their unscheduled trip to the Game Station. The Doctor recalled how they barely got out alive and laughed about it before a transmat beam entered the Tardis and took them to the Game Station. It was the Ninth Doctor's last "proper" trip in the Tardis before he regenerated.
