File:KGNC interviews Admiral Ackbar actor Tim Rose! Tim Rose (born 17 July 1956[1][2][3]) was the animatronic designer who worked on Deep Breath, with assistants Nico Zarcone and Gerard Moore, to create the clockwork puppet version of the Half-Face Man. According to Millennium FX managing director Rob Mayor, Rose and crew managed to complete "the entire rig", together with the internal clockwork mechanics, in a few days.[4]
He was also an uncredited animatronics operator for the Cybermats in Closing Time[5][6], and appeared on a DVD extra discussing his work with the Cybermats in that episode.[5]
Career
Outside of the DWU, Rose is best known as the actor and puppeteer who played the role of Admiral Ackbar in the Star Wars film series, originally in Return of the Jedi, and then again in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.[7][1][2] Early in his career, Rose learned from Muppets creator Jim Henson[2], who "loaned" him to George Lucas to play Ackbar.[8] He served as a Muppet designer and performer at the Jim Henson Company.[2]
Brian Coldrick, the concept artist for the new Cybermats, was very excited about the Star Wars operator's involvement with his work.[6]
