Moonbase One, later Moonbase Laika, was a UNIT facility located on the Moon. (PROSE: Horror of the Space Snakes)

You may wish to consult Moonbase (disambiguation) for other, similarly-named pages.

History

Liz Shaw had helped UNIT plan the Moonbase as early as the 1970s. (AUDIO: The Cloisters of Terror)

In 2006, UNIT set up Moonbase One as a scientific research station. (PROSE: Horror of the Space Snakes)

Liz was stationed at the facility in 2010. She could not attend the Eleventh Doctor's funeral as she could not return until the following Sunday. (TV: Death of the Doctor)

After UNIT was shut down circa 2018, Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart hoped that it was empty. (PROSE: Lucy Wilson and the Bledoe Cadets)

In 2023 it was given to World State and renamed Moonbase Laika. (PROSE: Horror of the Space Snakes)

According to one account, the Moon was an egg that was destroyed when it hatched in 2049. The creature laid an egg that replaced the original Moon. (TV: Kill the Moon)

By 2070, the Moonbase was used as a weather control station. (TV: The Moonbase, PROSE: Horror of the Space Snakes) It controlled Earth's weather with the Gravitron that was installed in the 2050s. The Telosian Cybermen attempted to take it over in 2070, but were stopped by the Second Doctor. (TV: The Moonbase)

Later in its history, the Moonbase was used as a prison and a children's amusement park. (PROSE: Horror of the Space Snakes)

Alternate timeline

In an alternate timeline where the Cybermen allied with Rassilon and began rewriting history, (COMIC: Supremacy of the Cybermen) the Second Doctor was partially converted while on the Moonbase. (COMIC: Prologue: The Second Doctor)
