Merger
If this planet is Gallifrey, then fine, it'll get merged.
If this planet isn't Gallifrey, then the page should remain.
The question is, are there any sources that say that Jewel is Gallifrey? Or are there any sources that establish Return of the Daleks as taking place on Gallifrey / Jewel being Gallifrey?
I do think that the page should be stripped of any other stories that refer to the home planet of Time Lords and just contain information from Return of the Daleks as that's the only story that specifically refers to Jewel as the home planet of the Time Lords. As the other stories here, if they don't themselves mention Gallifrey have other stories that establish them as taking place on Gallifrey.
Of course, link to this page if it isn't already from Gallifrey. --Tangerineduel / talk 07:19, October 7, 2017 (UTC)
- I made this page simply because I was uncomfortable with putting information about Return of the Daleks on a page called "Gallifreyan history". Jewel is absolutely intended to be the Doctor's homeworld as previously seen on TV -- that the comic brings back President (The Three Doctors), Chancellor (The Three Doctors), and Time Lord (The Three Doctors) is clear evidence to that. At the time of making the page, I was thinking of it as a Ferain/Valyes situation, but perhaps it is more of a Dr Who/The Doctor thing. Merging makes sense, especially if someone can find the bit in one of Lance Parkin's books which I've heard exists but am not sure actually does, where he says that "Jewel" is a translation of "Gallifrey". - Well, if the difference between Jewel and Gallifrey hasn’t been made, why do they have different pages? (JMC Red Dwarf ☎ 23:34, April 8, 2018 (UTC))
- Then I ask again, why do Jewel and Gallifrey have separate articles if there isn’t a difference between them? (JMC Red Dwarf ☎ 02:47, April 9, 2018 (UTC))
- Based on in-universe evidence, though, are we sure "Jewel" is intended to be the same planet from The War Games and The Three Doctors? It's definitely currently being used as a base by Time Lords, but Trial of a Time Lord (among others) would later show Time Lord authorities carrying out official business from offworld space bases, and that's without going into the whole Dronid and Nine Gallifreys things. --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 02:07, September 2, 2020 (UTC)
- I agree, there's enough info to suggest it's a planet used as a base.
- And going back to my original point of stripping the page of any information that isn't given in Return the Daleks and/or any stories that don't reference Jewel as being this planet. --Tangerineduel / talk 03:18, September 17, 2020 (UTC)
