Esterath was the controller of the Glory at the heart of the omniverse and kept it safe from all who would use it for evil.
He grew weary after a nearly infinite long life since the Glory refused to give its controller complete immortality and sought a successor. He rescued the Master from the Time Vortex so he could participate in the fight for the next controller of the Glory. Esterath tricked the Master into thinking that he would be his successor and the Master created the events for which Kroton would become the next controller of the Glory. Esterath disappeared afterward once the Glory was passed onto Kroton. (COMIC: The Glorious Dead)
