However, character pages should then bear the name that was legal at the time of the story's release.CzechOut [T:ACTOR [src]]

CzechOut, could you please clarify why this rule is needed? Is it for factual correctness? Or just for convenience to make credits more searchable? —andrybak (talk) 07:24, March 26, 2019 (UTC)

Misspellings

"Past credits in which a deadname was originally used should effectively [be] treated as mistaken". If this is the case, why don't we also treat actual mistakes this way and spell names correctly on story pages? -- Saxon (✉️) 22:51, November 18, 2020 (UTC)

A thought

Reading the part about deadnames got me thinking. Hypothetically, if a real world person were mentioned within the fiction of Doctor Who, requiring an in-universe page for them, and said person later transitioned, would T:NO RW require us to continue to deadname/misgender that person? Furthermore, imagine said person is mentioned again in another, unrelated story, but no connection is drawn to the other reference. Would it violate the same policy to conflate them? Would we have to create a new, separate page? Just wondering what we would do in that hypothetical scenario or indeed if a similar one has ever actually happened...
