After rejecting their biological ties to the Homeworld, the Celestis fell from grace. This made them "corrupt" in a fundamental metaphysical way that meant that they appeared somehow sickly even when they did their best to manifest in beautiful, angelic forms; despite their wish to pass for aloof gods, most of the universe readily perceived them as traitorous and demonic parasites.
