Sea Venture

Sea Venture was a piece of literature by Strachey published in the early 16th century. Playwright William Shakespeare sought to "cash-in" on Sea Venture with a shipwreck story, eventually resulting in The Tempest, though he reminded himself in his notes to make sure Thomas Middleton wasn't already doing something similar. (PROSE: The Tempest – A Work in Progress)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

In the real world, Sea Venture was the name of the ship that was wrecked rather than Strachey's account of said incident.
