Sarah Kiyomoto was an old friend of Bernice Summerfield from the Spacefleet Academy.
The pair last saw each other on Tucanis and in the interim nobody would believe Sarah's stories about her friend except Ivo Fitzlndri who had also been abandoned by Bernice. Sarah gave birth to a daughter, Nicky Kiyomoto, who she named after Bernice, and the pair attended Ivo's funeral where Sarah encountered Bernice for the first time in decades.
