In Earth-33⅓, Tom Baker played the Fourth Doctor in Doctor Who.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
In 1974, he auditioned for the role and later got the part.
His casting led to all scripts being discarded and thrown out of the windows; as a Cyberman told confused Zygon who were both observing the spectacle outside the BBC Television Centre, "We don't need them anymore - Tom Baker's the new Doctor". In 1981, he was succeeded in the role by Peter Davison. (COMIC: Ever Wondered What Happened At.. The Auditions For The Seven Doctors?)
John Nathan-Turner once congratulated Baker on nicely underplaying a scene. This was considered an "unlikely" event in the wider history of Doctor Who. (COMIC: Doctor Who? 203)
Nathan-Turner later informed him that the budget for one of his stories had been cut by upstairs, leading to Logopolis hurriedly being converted into Legopolis. After Nathan-Turner showed him the half-constructed LEGO set, Baker was visibly upset. (COMIC: Doctor Who? 185)
