The Legend of Sutekh was a myth closely based on the events of the Osiran civil war between Sutekh's followers and Horus's. (TV: Pyramids of Mars)

An early version of the Legend was recorded on a First Dynasty papyrus, dating back to circa 3000 BC. This version, translated by the British Museum, was later printed in Extinct Civilisations of the East. According to that book, the version of the Legend still carried by the oral traditions of the remaining cults of Horus-worshippers in 20th century Egypt was remarkably similar to this ancient account, by the usual standards of orally-transmitted mythology.
