The Beagle XXI was a Sittuun spaceship whose crew mounted an expedition to the Gyre in 250,339. The crew were on a mission to destroy the Gyre with a Nanobomb in order to avoid its impending collision with the comet Schuler-Khan which would potentially cause dozens of nearby systems to be wiped out, including the homeworld of the Sittuun.
All eleven crew members survived the impact when the Beagle crash landed on the Gyre. However, they were soon picked off by the primitive humans who had inhabited the Gyre for many years. Hussein, Doctor Kamal and Lt Siddiqui were immediately killed by the humans and hung at the city gates for the rest of the crew to see. Chief navigator Aisha was severely injured from a Sollog and eventually died from the infection. Lt Aziz, Sharma and Saïd were later also captured and presumably killed by the humans too. This left four surviving members including; Captain Jamal al-Jehedeh and his son Charlie, Ahmed and Doctor Heeva. (PROSE: Night of the Humans)
