The Old Rogue was a 2011 Big Finish Productions audio short story read by Louise Jameson.

Summary

Romana and the Doctor pay a visit to Arkinen, Destroyer of Galaxies, who is working in a cafe in Catford.

  • Arkinen destroyed all sentient life in the Helix nebula "for kicks".
  • The Doctor has K9 act as his dentist, noting "K9 is rather good with, well, canines".
  • K9 is sent out of the café and several youths start kicking a football at him and spraying him with paint. K9 shoots it, setting it on fire. He stuns several of them and a policeman and knock a police van over, setting it on fire.
  • The original café owner, Sid, had his conciousness transferred into Arkinen's body and vice versa. Sid's body then acted as Arkinen's prison. It has been this way for forty years.
  • Arkinen is an Anarken.
  • The Second Doctor and Jamie McCrimmon imprisoned Arkinen on Earth in the hope he would be rehabilitated.
  • Arkinen created an understanding device to destroy planets.

Notes

  • Throughout the story, Romana is referred to as "the posh girl", but no further indication as to her exact incarnation is given.
