Gods were beings of immense power from the mythologies of many species. The powers, abilities and appearances of the gods varied from culture to culture. Some considered Transcendental Beings to be gods, due to their power.
The Tenth Doctor claimed that he didn't believe in any specific god, but had met a number of beings who claimed to be gods. (DW: The Satan Pit) The Second Doctor once offered a silent prayer to 'the gods of his own people'. (PDA: The Murder Game)

The humans of Earth and their colonies had many gods from their many cultures. Most, if not all, of these gods turned out to be aliens or other advanced beings.
- Cessair was worshipped as Cailleach for thousands of years. (DW: The Stones of Blood)
- The Dæmons were worshipped as various horned gods, including Pan and Khnum. (DW: The Dæmons)
- The Immortals were many of the gods worshipped around the world. (PDA: Deadly Reunion)
- Kronos was regarded as a deity by the Greeks and Atlanteans. (DW: The Time Monster, PDA: The Quantum Archangel)
- The Latter-Day Pantheon was a group worshipped in New York in 1965. (PDA: Salvation)
- Light was worshipped as The Burning One by Nimrod's tribe. (DW: Ghost Light)
- The Osirians were most of the Egyptian gods, not including Scaroth and Khnum. (DW: Pyramids of Mars, City of Death)
- A werewolf was worshipped by the Brethren as a god. (DW: Tooth and Claw)
- Xoanon was worshipped by the Sevateem and Tesh. (DW: The Face of Evil)
- In the year 100,000 BC, Earth's Sun Sol was worshipped by a Tribe of Cavemen who called it Orb. (DW: An Unearthly Child)
- In the year 1500 BC in Ancient Greece the Hangle-Wang Branch of the Slitheen Family from the 347th Century were mistaken for gods by the Greeks. (NSA: The Slitheen Excursion)
Other Gods and Goddesses
Many other races have had gods of some kind, many of them living beings.
- The Doctor was referred to as "the lonely god" in the legend of the Face of Boe's final prophecy (DW: New Earth), and was worshipped in absentia as "the god of time" by a Roman family after rescuing them from the destruction of Pompeii (DW: The Fires of Pompeii).
- The Time Lords were originally thought to be gods by Minyos, Klist and Plastrodus 14, but they later fell out of favour. (DW: Underworld, PDA: The Quantum Archangel)
- The Dalek Emperor, sincerely believing himself to be a god, was worshipped by the Dalek survivors of the Last Great Time War. (DW: The Parting of the Ways)
- The Optera believed the Menoptera to be gods. (DW: The Web Planet)
- Aggedor was thought to be a god by the Peladonians. (DW: The Curse of Peladon)
- The Deons believed in Ti and thought the Dodecahedron was his gift. (DW: Meglos)
- The Worldsphere God was a machine who watched over the People. (NA: The Also People)
- Kroll was worshipped by the Swampies. (DW: The Power of Kroll)
- The Nimon were worshipped by species, including many of the inhabitants of Crinoth and Skonnos. (DW: The Horns of Nimon) A related species also set themselves up as the gods of many races. (DW: The God Complex)
- The Dæmons, Kaleds and Draconians, among countless other peoples, venerated and/or dreaded The Beast. (DW: The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit)
- Ancient Gallifreyans worshipped their moon Pazithi Gallifreya as a virgin Goddess. (NA: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible)
- The line of Pepins ruled as gods. Pepin VII abdicated, leaving Frobisher as a god in his place. (BFA: The Holy Terror)
- The Sisters of Plenitude had a goddess Santori they spoke of her during bad times (DW: New Earth, Gridlock)
- Thoueris was mistaken by the Egyptians for a god. (DWM: The Power of Thoueris!)
- Balor was worshipped as a god by the Cynrog. (NSA: The Nightmare of Black Island)
- The Jaftee sequentially worshipped a number of gods, including Donna Noble who they called the 'Ginger Goddess'. They made a habit of trading in old religions for new ones. (NSA: Shining Darkness)
- The Doctor told Jack Harkness that if a Time Lord took on the Bad Wolf entity, they could become "an vengeful God". (DW: Utopia)
- The inhabitants of Sto worshipped a god known as Vot. (DW: Voyage of the Damned)
- After K9 Mark I liberated the Anubians from the Huduct, the Anubians worshipped him as a god. (K9TV: Curse of Anubis)
- The squid-like Grel worshiped a god called Maa'lon. (BNA: Where Angels Fear)
