Thoueris

Thoueris

Thoueris was an Osiran who posed as a goddess.

Thoueris came to Earth and hid in the River Nile. She demanded the Egyptians pay her tribute. She used a ring on her hand to control crocodiles in the river, using them to kill those who opposed her.

The Eighth Doctor antagonised her and she attempted to climb the cliff the Doctor was on. The Doctor blinded her temporarily with oil, then lit the oil. This made Thoueris fall, but not before the Doctor took her ring. He used the ring to make the crocodiles attack and kill her. (COMIC: The Power of Thoueris!)

In the City of the Saved, Akhenaten was tasked with arresting Remakes of the "Osirian pantheon" who were based on folk memories of the Osirian Court. This included a woman with "wide hippo lips" and "tiny ears". (PROSE: A Hundred Words from a Civil War)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | edit source]

  • "Thoueris" is the Greek name for Taweret, the hippo-like goddess of childbirth in Egyptian mythology.
