GodEngine (novel)

GodEngine is the fifty-first Virgin New Adventures novel. It features for the first time travelling without Bernice Summerfield, the Seventh Doctor, Chris Cwej and Roz Forrester. Set in prior to the 22nd century Dalek invasion but set on Mars is sees a reappearance of the Ice Warriors whilst exploring their culture in detail and how it was influenced by the Osirians.

Stranded on Mars, the Doctor and Roz team up with a group of colonists on a journey to find much-needed supplies at the North Pole. But when their expedition is joined by a party of Ice Warrior pilgrims, tensions are stretched to breaking point. Meanwhile, Chris finds himself on Pluto’s moon, trapped with a group of desperate scientists in a deadly race against time.

The year is 2157: the Earth has been invaded, and forces are at work on Mars to ensure that the mysterious invaders are successful. Unless the Doctor can solve the riddle of the GodEngine, the entire course of human history will be changed.

Draan is in dishonour due to the failure of his father, Slaar, whom the Doctor defeated
Bernice Summerfield is an expert in Martian archeaology, Roz and Chris wish she was there to help.
Erica Dortmun is noted as the daughter of Dortmun

Locations

There is a crater called Sutekh's Cauldron, named after the Osirian god.

Species

Samples of an Osirian star-sapphire are found of Mars.
The Daleks are the allies of the Ice Warriors, they are also the enemy attacking the solar system.

Technology

The Doctor gives Roz a Nimon gravity device.

Continuity

GodEngine explains why the Daleks in DW: The Dalek Invasion of Earth were removing the magnetic core.
In DW: The Stolen Earth there is an alternate suggestion of these actions.
Draan is the son of the Ice Lord known as Slaar, who was defeated by the Doctor in his second incarnation in DW: The Seeds of Death.
