Night and the Doctor is a series of five mini-episodes of Doctor Who released as part of the complete Series 6 DVD collection. The names of the episodes, all written by showrunner Steven Moffat, are:
- Bad Night
- Good Night
- First Night (Part 1)
- Last Night (Part 2)
- Up all Night
Bad Night and Good Night also form a two-part story, although they are not directly linked the way First Night and Last Night are by way of a cliffhanger.
Episodes
Bad Night
When Amy is woken in the middle of the night by the TARDIS telephone, she discovers the Doctor carries on a very active social and adventuring life while his companions are asleep. In this one, he (and an unseen River Song) is trying to rescue the English monarch from having been turned into a goldfish.
Good Night
Amy finally gets to ask the Doctor the question that has been plaguing her since DW: Space: how can she remember two distinct histories of her life since the universe was rebooted in DW: The Big Bang? The Doctor in part answers her question by giving her a chance to do a good deed for herself when she was a child.
First Night
The Doctor arrives at Stormcage to pick up River Song on the evening of her first day of imprisonment on twelve-thousand consecutive life sentences. It's their "first date", but his plans are complicated when a future version of River turns up.
Last Night
With no fewer than three River Songs from different times roaming the TARDIS, the Doctor has to avoid contaminating the timeline. Along the way, he encounters a future version of himself en route to his and River's final outing (as described in DW: Forest of the Dead).
Up All Night
This mini-episode is unconnected to the other four and is in fact a prelude to DW: Closing Time, focusing on Craig Owens and his family the night before the events of the episode.

Continuity
- Bad Night appears to take place prior to the events of DW: The Rebel Flesh given Amy's lack of reaction to the Doctor mentioning River (a stronger reaction would be expected if this was after she learned of River's identity).
- First Night and Last Night both take place post-The Wedding of River Song given the lack of Amy or Rory.
- The two Eleventh Doctors discuss The Library (DW: Forest of the Dead) and it's suggested the future Eleventh Doctor is about to experience his final outing with River.
- Up All Night takes place shortly before DW: Closing Time.
