A Forever Home was the third story of the audio anthology The Diary of River Song: Series Eight. It was written by Alfie Shaw and featured Alex Kingston as River Song and John Leeson as K9.

- This story marked K9 Mark III's first appearance in a Big Finish audio drama.
- This story leads directly into the plot TV: A Girl's Best Friend, with K9's delivery to Sarah Jane's Aunt Lavinia in South Croydon.

- The Fourth Doctor sent K9 Mark III to Sarah Jane in a Time Lord time crate because he couldn't afford to send him in the post. At the end of the story River alters the time crate's chameleon circuit to make it look like a regular packing crate before sending K9 onto Croydon. (TV: A Girl's Best Friend)
- River bemoans the fact the the Doctor never tells anyone about her, later the Doctor would tell Clara Oswald about River, but in a way that lead Clara to think she was a man. (TV: The Name of the Doctor)
