Anthony Shipley was a Gallifreyan Time Lord with a fondness for planet Earth which was akin to the Doctor's.
He lived with his parents in Reigate, Surrey. He and them argued every Saturday about which television channel to watch at 6pm, with Anthony wishing to keep apprised of the Doctor's adventures. Prior to the publication of the first issue of Dr Who Weekly, Anthony used his TARDIS to travel forwards in time and get a copy early. He subsequently sent a letter to Marvel Comics which was received before the issue went on sale. It contained heaps of praise for the magazine, with Anthony explaining it allowed him to follow the Doctor's adventures without getting into arguments. The Fourth Doctor later replied to Anthony's correspondence, informing him that the competition that week gave him the chance to win his very own television with which he would be able to watch whatever he liked.
