The Brandenburg Gate was a monument in Berlin, Germany.
During the Third Reich, the Brandenburg Gate was decorated with Nazi swastika banners. It could be seen from the Reichschancellery, through the window within Adolf Hitler's office. (TV: Let's Kill Hitler)
The Berlin Wall was built in front of the Brandenburg Gate, separating East Berlin and West Berlin. In 1989, when the wall fell, the Eighth Doctor was present nearby the Gate, searching for his daughter Miranda. Dieter Steinmann asked him to take a sledgehammer and participate in destroying the wall, but the Doctor refused, leaving through the Gate to continue the search for Miranda. (PROSE: Father Time)
