Doctor Who Pin-Up was a feature in early issues of Doctor Who Magazine when it was known as Doctor Who Weekly and Doctor Who Monthly.
Each instalment was a pin-up of a Doctor Who character or scene, usually one page in size and printed in black-and-white with an accompanying caption. Each instalment of the series also bore the series logo which originally resembled the diamond Doctor Who logo but later switched to the neon-tubing logo.
The feature was introduced in DWM 10 and continued without pause until DWM 23, with issues sometimes featuring more than one Pin-Up. The feature returned after a one week break in DWM 25 and maintained a regular presence in the magazine until DWM 61 but often went on breaks of one issue or more during this time. Pin-ups continued to feature in the publication following issue 61 but no longer bore any specific branding.
Instalments[[edit]]
The new neon-tubing logo was introduced from DWM 46 but this was replaced by another logo, again based on the neon design, in DWM 48. DWM 49 then featured two pin-ups which each featured one of the neon designs and DWM 50 introduced yet another neon logo. Following this, the series settled on the logo first seen in issue 46 from DWM 51 onwards.
For a brief period from issue 51 to issue 54, the Doctor Who Pin-Up appeared on the back page of the magazine printed in full colour. DWM 53 contained an extra instalment within the issue which was published in black-and-white as usual.
DWM 20 was notable for featuring the only instalment of Doctor Who Pin-Up which was not a single page, being instead the size of two pages.
