Monsieur LeFoy was a Marquis from pre-Revolutionary France.
During the Reign of Terror, he tried to flee the country with his family, with the help of his young chambermaid Louise. They didn't get far being caught by the Revolutionary authorities, and were subsequently sentenced to be guillotined. LeFoy was executed first, allowing Louise, stoic in the face of death, to use his notebook (which he had never let her use in life) to sketch the guillotine and executioner before it was her turn. This act impressed Auteur, who froze time and rescued a version of Louise in the hope of training her to become an "artistic spirit of vengeance" in her Town.
