Mansell was an Eternal who served as first mate on the Buccaneer under Captain Wrack when they competed for Enlightenment.
He was thrown overboard along with Wrack by Vislor Turlough and the Fifth Doctor. As Mansell was an Eternal, he was merely displaced. (TV: Enlightenment)
