By one account, a Memory TARDIS was a type of TARDIS of which multiple examples existed, (PROSE: I, TARDIS [+]Loading...["I, TARDIS (novel)"]) most prominently the Remembered TARDIS created by UNIT's Time Window. (TV: Empire of Death [+]Loading...["Empire of Death (TV story)"], et al.) These TARDISes were made of memories, under the principle that memory is time and a time machine would have a certain kind of memory. (TV: Earthshock [+]Loading...["Earthshock (TotT TV story)"])
History[[edit] | [edit source]]
According to the Doctor's TARDIS's memory banks, the first Memory TARDISes were created at the end of Borusa's Game of Rassilon during the TARDIS's temporal fission. Due to the Death Zone being located in No Time and seething with displaced temporal energy from overuse of the time scoop, as well as the TARDIS bottling up the temporal energy of multiple Doctors meeting, several echoes of the TARDIS were created to ferry the TARDIS's past travellers to their home times and places. The TARDIS wasn't sure if these Memory TARDISes melted away or instead went on to give new adventures to the past Doctors who were taken out of time, becoming "safe havens for dreaming shades" from across the Doctor's timeline. A Remembered TARDIS was created by UNIT's Time Window, (TV: Empire of Death [+]Loading...["Empire of Death (TV story)"], et al.) going on to collect various incarnations of the Doctor and their companions so that they would tell the stories which sustained its existence.
