Nick was a young man that acted as the best friend of Miles Mokri but was in reality an agent for a rival organisation to the Three Families.
History[[edit] | [edit source]]
At an unknown point before Miracle Day, Nick became best friends with Miles Mokri, a conspiracy theorist who was investigating the conspiracy to end death. Nick would later claim that he was really Miles' friend, but that he was "a friend with an agenda." Nick was in reality an agent of a rival organisation to the Three Families. Nick's organisation wanted to use Miles to find the key to the Miracle, the blood of the immortal man which could restore the Miracle if it was negated. With the key, Nick's organisation hoped to take the Families power for themselves.
Miles eventually found the location of the blood, but went to give it to Agent Joe Bradley of the FBI who Miles was working with. To stop Miles after Nick's goons failed to abduct him, Nick staged a drive-by shooting and shot Miles twice in the back as he went to speak with Joe. Due to Miles recording his meeting with Joe and the camera catching the muzzle flashes, it appeared as if Joe was the actual shooter. Since Miracle Day had begun, Miles survived the shooting despite his normally fatal injuries though he was left unconscious and unable to reveal anything.
Following the shooting, Nick continued to act as Miles' concerned friend and helped Holly as she worked to take care of Miles after the hospital sent him home due to the overflow in patients with Miracle Day. Nick kept close to Holly as used Miles' phone to identify Joe was the man Miles was meeting with and brushed off Holly's theories of a second shooter based on an apparent third muzzle flash. After Holly contacted Joe, the two were given a puzzle that led them to the Ambassador Hotel High School where they met Joe. As they were chased by two men, who in reality were working with Nick, Nick worked to help Holly decode the clues in Miles' laptop which revealed, amongst other things, the existence of a mortal man and that the key to the Miracle was somewhere on Coney Island. Nick attempted to decode the anagram of Torchwood during this time, but only figured out "Doctor How" as a possibility which made no sense to him.
At LAX, Nick called his two men to meet them at Coney Island. At the same time, Holly realised that the third flash was possibly from a camera. Looking through traffic cameras from the night of Miles' shooting, Holly found a picture that revealed that Nick was the one that had tried to kill Miles. Once they arrived at Coney Island and turned on the power, Holly found a single shooting game still powered up and guessed that it was another of Miles' clues. Holly tried to send Nick away, but he quickly returned with his two men and Joe's stolen gun.
As Holly prepared to use the game for Nick and his men, Nick admitted that he hadn't wanted to shoot Miles, but Miles had been about to hand over the key to the FBI and Nick had to stop him. As Holly won the game for him, Nick explained about the Three Families and how the key started the Miracle and could restart it if something happened which gave the Families a power that Nick's group wanted. Though Holly pointed out all the troubles that the world was suffering as a result of the Miracle, Nick only cared about the profit in it and pointed out that cancer was cured as a result of the Miracle which meant that Holly could never get sick of it again and die as long as the Miracle continued. After contemplating this revelation and an email from Miles, Holly agreed to help Nick and led him onto the Ferris Wheel where they could read the map. After they figured out where the map pointed, Holly and Joe fled from Nick and his goons.
Nick and his men followed Holly and Joe to the key which Nick revealed to be the blood of the immortal man who was now the only mortal man in the world. Nick pointed out how negating the Miracle would restore cancer and in Miles' condition, would likely kill him which the blood could prevent. As Nick prepared to kill Joe, Holly kicked the gun out of Nick's hand and dove to the lower level where she found a gun hidden by Miles under the vat. Holly shot Nick through the left eye and shot his two goons as well. As well as the gun, Holly discovered a self-destruct program Miles had rigged using the vat's cooling system. After she activated it, Holly turned her attention back to Nick who was trying to make threats, but couldn't speak due to his injury. Holly shot Nick through his right eye, sending him into the vat of blood. Nick's body was consumed when the vat exploded shortly thereafter, killing him.
Despite Nick's efforts, Miles ultimately survived the negation of the Miracle as he recovered enough to survive the return of death. (WC: Web of Lies)
Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]
Outwardly, Nick appeared to be a kind, friendly young man and a caring friend to Miles and Holly Mokri. After showing his true colours, Nick did claim to have actually been Miles and Holly's friend for real, but one with an agenda. Nick claimed to have had feelings for Holly and his favourite part of the Miracle was that it would prevent her cancer from potentially returning and killing her.
In reality, Nick was a cold and calculating individual willing to do anything to achieve his goals, including commit murder. Despite his claimed care for Miles and Holly, Nick was more than willing to kill them both to get what he wanted if they got in his way. Nick was also more than happy to use Miles' condition and Holly's cancer possibly coming back in an effort to manipulate her.
Nick possessed an impressive degree of knowledge about the Miracle. Nick knew about Jack Harkness' immortality, the fact that he was now mortal, about the Three Families and even about the existence of the Blessing and its connection to the Miracle. (WC: Web of Lies)
