River Song's scanner

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

River Song made frequent use of a scanner branded "Magpie Electricals". (TV: Flesh and Stone) She regarded it as alien technology. It could be used to detect time distortion and ionising radiation, (AUDIO: The Blood Woods) to pick up incoming and outgoing transmissions, (TV: The Pandorica Opens, The Big Bang) to map out terrain, (TV: The Impossible Astronaut) and even scan for medical prognoses, all in a matter of seconds. (TV: Flesh and Stone)

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

River once used her device to scan the Underhenge, and found its pillars were transmitting a signal throughout time and space to call for the capture of the Eleventh Doctor in the Pandorica. Later, River's scanner showed her there were tens of thousand of alien ships approaching. (TV: The Pandorica Opens)

Functioning as a medscanner, she later used it to scan Amy Pond and determine she was dying. (TV: Flesh and Stone)

On another occasion, River used the scanner to let her know there were extensive tunnels beneath Florida that extended around the world, to open a locked door, (TV: The Impossible Astronaut) and to learn that the astronaut suit that her younger self had escaped from was augmented with alien technology. (TV: Day of the Moon)
