Father Self was a light-hearted elder of Faction Paradox who had an office in the Eleven-Day Empire's version of the Dorchester. Self initiated Porsena into the Faction and acted as his patron. When Porsena informed Self that Antipathy had been selling the Faction out to the enemy, Self gathered with four other Faction elders in a failed attempt to ritually bind Antipathy. (PROSE: Of the City of the Saved...)
Self planted his ceremonial mask in 13th century England for it to come into the collection of a 16th century Oxford occult enthusiast. Giordano Bruno purchased the mask, prompting Self to talk through the mask using astral projection while he was alseep in the Eleven-Day Empire. Self informed Bruno of House Dvora's manipulations and encouraged him to spread his memory system. After Bruno died, Self visited everyone Bruno had taught the memory system to, using hypnosis to collect their memories of Bruno. Self then recreated Bruno with a remembrance tank and integrated him into the Remote of Anathema in 1800. (PROSE: De Umbris Idearum)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Philip Purser-Hallard indicated in his commentary of Of the City of the Saved... that Father Self "bears more than a passing resemblance" to the English novelist and TV pundit Will Self.[1]
