Kruger once was a teacher, but after the [[Second World War]], he couldn't go back to teaching as he couldn't bear to look at the faces of his students, many of which he had fought by their side. He had tried to convince [[Kruger's wife (The Shadow Vortex)|his wife]] to leave [[East Berlin]] during the War, to stay with [[Kruger's sister-in-law (The Shadow Vortex)|her sister]], but she was stubborn and refused. She eventually died and was buried in Berlin. He had a life in Berlin, after the War, making friends. As he couldn't bear to be a teacher, he joined the [[secret police]]. | |||
