History

Swine cannons were used to fire pigs over the walls of Muslim cities during the First Crusade, circa 1098 AD, "causing both loss of life and gratuitous offence".

A song by the Beatles, "I Am the Walrus", featured the line "See how they run, like pigs from a gun.".
