PAGE PROTECT[[edit source]]
I Know under this stupid new page protection rules there is to be little information but we have about 1/2 the cast we know (we're missing the younger gambon dudes and the crew on the space ship) & we could of cleaned up that messy rumors section on the series page & wheres the Xmas special info box at the bottom Joshoedit 19:49, December 10, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, the page is missing loads of info that we know. The full page protect thing is stupid. Alpha111 20:12, December 12, 2010 (UTC)
Part of a new policy made to make page info switch faster from pre air to post air blah, blah it dosn't work! made by a few sinour members that thought 4 people where enough of the wiki members to go ahead. Joshoedit 05:59, December 14, 2010 (UTC)
I think it should be semi-protected so only registered users can access the page. It would be a lot more sensible than full-protection. Alpha111 21:24, December 14, 2010 (UTC)
I had this big debate with Tangerineduel about it, check it out on his talk page... Ghastly9090 17:53, December 15, 2010 (UTC)
- The page exists as a place holder for when the story is broadcast. It exists so that the general layout exists for when the story is broadcast, it's not meant to be a running update of every small piece of information that comes out.
- We could look into changing it to a semi-protect status, but my concern is that sections such as References, Continuity and Timeline would begin to fill up with guess work based on the trailer and other information that's floating around. The article needs to be about the story in its broadcast form, not whatever can be gleaned from the trailer and other media information. --Tangerineduel 12:23, December 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Tangerineduel, usually all the guesswork comes from unregestered users and not normally from regestered users. So can the story be changed to semi protected and if we get a load of junk it can get changed back to fully protected.Alpha111 13:11, December 16, 2010 (UTC)
- The point of the policy was to stop the need for the back and forth that you've suggested.
- Under the semi-protect and vandalism rules each user who adds junk information needs to be cautioned for adding possible vandalism information. Additionally, all the characters and actors' pages can't be created until they're broadcast, by unprotecting the article page they would very likely be placed on there and then created as "X actor will appear in A Christmas Carol' sort of pages all of which would need to be deleted. The goal is to add useful information to this wiki, and I'm still concerned about the amount of useful information that would be added (considering that the episode has not broadcast) that would be added to the article. --Tangerineduel 14:30, December 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, there is a very good point but I haven't seen much proof of this happening. You did say the goal is to add useful information to this wiki and although the episode has not been broadcast yet useful information that is known can be added quicker. Anyway if we change it to semi-protection and we do get a load of junk it can be changed back to full-protction. Alpha111 10:19, December 17, 2010 (UTC)
- Page protection is also useful in protecting an article from unsourced rumour.--Skittles the hog 17:41, December 16, 2010 (UTC)
- No What i'm trying to say is lock the page after all the information we have in all sections and then update it when we need to Joshoedit 09:11, December 19, 2010 (UTC)
- Or...just wait. There's no rush.--Skittles the hog 21:19, December 20, 2010 (UTC)
- IF THERES A PAGE PUT ALL THE INFORMATION WE HAVE ON IT AND THEN UPDATE IT NOT PUT ALL THE INFORMATION ON THE SERIES PAGE, OR JUST CREATE THE ARTICLE AFTER AIRING, OH THAT WILL MAKE PEOPLE PUT INFORMATION ON FARSTER!Joshoedit 23:09, December 20, 2010 (UTC)
- You know, one of the blasted reasons I used to come out here was to see what the rumor mill said and to score new tidbits of information on future episodes. Indeed, there was a section for every episode page dedicated to rumors which were then debuncted or confirmed. That was part of the fun. All of the pages were created well in advance and it was fun seeing the buzz about things because there were times, sourced rumors or speculations turned out to be true (as when the Master returned).
- Sadly, this site has apparently been taken over by wiki-gods who alone determine what the ignorant masses should and should not read. So when I read statements like, "The page exists as a place holder for when the story is broadcast. It exists so that the general layout exists for when the story is broadcast, it's not meant to be a running update of every small piece of information that comes out," I know we are dealing with an egomaniac at best (and I won't go into the worst-case possibility). I came to this place for the EXPRESS PURPOSE OF A ONE-STOP INFORMATION SHOP! But, because we now how those wiki-gods who've decided that I shouldn't get this information because if offends them in some way, I guess I better move along and let this place rot so the wiki-gods can pleasure themselves in peace with thier tiny fiefdom. CAST[[edit source]]
There is a lot of the cast members that we know appear in the episode that are not in the article can someone please change that. Alpha111 21:11, December 15, 2010 (UTC)
- The idea is to add that info when the story broadcasts, perhaps it would be better to remove all information from the cast section, so that it can all be added following broadcast without any errors. --Tangerineduel 12:12, December 16, 2010 (UTC)
- If we know the info we should put on the page. Alpha111 13:39, December 16, 2010 (UTC)
- If the information is available BEFORE the blasted episode broadcasts, what's the point of holding out other than inflating your massive, bloated ego, Tanger-whatever. The whole smegging nature of a wiki site is for the COMMUNITY to add/remove information as needed. Todd-sama 06:32, December 21, 2010 (UTC)
Info box image[[edit source]]
The info box image is a promotion picture and is likely to not be in the actual show. Wouldn't a picture from the trailer be better? Alpha111 20:16, December 12, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, according to Tardis:Manual of Style, promotional images shouldn't be used for out-universe articles. --Bold Clone 19:00, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Bold (unreadable word) is right there is a pic from the trailer i uploaded it my selfJoshoedit 06:01, December 14, 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks Joshedit for the image upload, it's been added to the infobox. --Tangerineduel 14:54, December 14, 2010 (UTC)
