Talk:The Inspector

Discussion page

Rename[[edit source]]

I agree with the user who posted the rename: lots of robots have aliases. Here, "Paul Smith" is the alias and should be used over "The Inspector". 66 Seconds 23:24, November 5, 2016 (UTC)

If you could give a few examples. By the way, I don't agree with the last part of the rename-template's explanation. The alias Paul Smith is in no way its real name. --DCLM 23:37, November 5, 2016 (UTC)
How do you know it wasn't? It is the only name given and we know zero about him. As for examples, well, there is K-9. Or would you like a robot with a human name? Dutch, Boris, Violet. Or would you like a name that is clearly not the robot's actual name, in fact, we are pretty sure the robot didn't have any name and was not sentient, but then somebody started calling him that and the page is using this name? Remember Rory (Handbot)? He's even in Legacy (video game). Point is: names are good for disambiguation, while The Inspector will someday be used for a Time Lord, I'm sure. You missed Kamelion haha But yes, I agree with Amorkuz, 66 and whoever proposed the rename. Xx-connor-xX 23:56, November 5, 2016 (UTC)
I would also say that this page would be more appropriately named as "Paul Smith". The Inspector seems to have just been the passing (And understandable) way in which Mr. Armitage referred to him. "Paul Smith" - whether actually the robot's name or not - was certainly the name that it was using during its time within Coal Hill. I think if we can accept Andrea Quill as a suitable page name for And'rath Quill, because it's her alias that she has been using during her time within Coal Hill and the local area, then we should be able to accept this alias for the robot.
