Hello To You Too!edit source

Thanks for the message, I love the idea of it and I'd love to use it. I'm afraid I can't help with the editing because I don't have much info on most collectibles but it's still interesting. I also have another Doctor Who Wiki idea. It's a fan fiction Doctor Who Wiki, seeing as how other sci-fi like Star Wars and Star Trek have one, I don't see why Doctor Who shouldn't have one too. I've got some fun ideas. What do you think about it? Plus, good luck with the Wiki! Kinnikufan 05:38, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

It's OK if you can't help with editing or making new pages. I have been doing all that myself. I think there might already be a wiki for Doctor Who fan fiction, but I am not sure. But it would be a great idea for one. Tardis1963 05:46, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I just checked and there is one. Well, I'm satisfied anyways. Again, good luck with your wiki! (^_^) Kinnikufan 05:54, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Marking an image for deletionedit source

Hi, thanks for assisting in bring an image to attention. The proposed deletion tag is proposed deletion, this tag is best placed on the image page, rather than that image's talk page. This tag also puts the image in the prop delete category. You can edit image pages the same as regular pages (the tag appears below the image). Thanks. --Tangerineduel 14:36, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Story titles and capitalizationedit source

Saw your talk page posts about changing some of the story titles' capitalization. On the one hand, you are right as to what's on the page; on the other, I prefer the (grammatically) correct capitalization. I think the best solution for now would be to create a redirect page. (Let me know if you don't know how to do that.)

As for a long-term solution, you might want to post something in the Forum, asking for input on what we should all do about these.

And welcome! Monkey with a Gun 04:49, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

OK. Redirects are a good idea, I suppose. And thanks for the welcome, even though I've been around here for a little while I haven't really made any edits. I've mostly been working on the wiki I set up last year, Doctor Who Collectors Wiki Tardis1963 04:57, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Your wikiedit source

Just had a look at your DW Collectibles wiki - very impressive start!

Two suggestions: in the link box at the top of the page, it reads "CD's" and "DVD's" - it should be "CDs" and "DVDs" (the apostrophe makes it possessive). Second, you should ask in the Forum if it would be okay to add links to merchandise pages on this wiki to yours; you'd get more users if that were approved by the community. Monkey with a Gun 05:01, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestions. And, yeah, I know about the "CD's" and "DVD's" error, but because all the categoried use apostrophes, it would be a huge job to fix it up. But I will get around to it, one day. Tardis1963 05:04, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Fontedit source

The font used on Doctor Who Wiki is FuturaDisD, a very close approximation of what's used on Region 2 DW DVDs. CzechOut | 05:40, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I guess I should point out it's modified in the logo somewhat. The color is sampled from the actual Tardis logo to the left, and then a white border is placed around it as a nod to the new Matt Smith TARDIS. Then the whole thing is given a drop shadow for a mild 3D effect. CzechOut | 05:55, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

Your wiki's logo on our front pageedit source

Hey, I've updated our front page to include a section listing other DW wikis on wikia. And I wanted to explain to you why I've chosen an out-of-date version of your logo, just in case you were concerned. Your current logo is unfortunately not transparent, but the one you used to use (with the McCoy era logo) was transparent. Transparency is really important for this section, because it's not on a white background. Additionally, your current logo, while it looks fine at the size used on your wiki, doesn't show up very well at the smaller size we're using, because it's so dark. So good news is that your wiki is now directly linked from our front page, but the possibly bad news is that we're using a version of your logo that you've discarded. I hope you don't mind too terribly much. CzechOut | 05:21, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

Resize templateedit source

Just wanted to say what a great little template this is! Thanks. --Tangerineduel 14:17, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I was just adding the 'Welcome' template, to welcome you to here. (And to practise revised signature) Tardis1963 22:04, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

Welcoming usersedit source

That's totally fine! Thanks. --Tangerineduel 06:34, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

You've been called outedit source

Not by me, but by someone else: I renamed it to include "(opinion)". ~Iris~ 04:12, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks you for letting me know. Tardis1963 04:17, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

Two New Episodes!!!edit source

The two new episodes are gonna be called for Series 5. Episodes 7 and 8 I Think

 • The Ground Beneath Their Feet
 • Cold Blood
Titles for Episodes 7 and 8 of Series 5 have not been confirmed yet. When they are they will be added. Also, please remember to sign all posts with ~~~~. Tardis1963 09:47, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Comments about signing postsedit source

It's better to put those on a user's talk page rather than responding to questions with "sign your post". If you're going to do that, please at least make an effort to respond to their question. It just comes across as snobby otherwise. -- sulfur 11:37, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Problem reportsedit source

Hi. Problem reports aren't really the best way to communicate issues with the pages, editors (admins included) will generally respond more promptly to notes left on the article's talk page. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 14:09, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

Stub templatesedit source

Heya again :) Thanks, as always, for continuing to edit our wiki alongside yours. :) Just wanted to advise you of something that's recently changed, which you might not have noticed in the midst of building your own wiki. We now have a rather large collection of stub templates for you to use. You can see the category at stub templates. I noticed you added an article, Steve Thompson, directly to a stub category, without using a stub template. Since we want to alert readers to the fact tat we know the article is stubby, we prefer using a template, which puts up an obvious tag and automatically adds the stub category. IN this particular case, the article should have had TV writer stub placed at the bottom.

Thanks again for your efforts here, and if you need anything to help you edit better, please let me know.

Signatureedit source

Please change your signature.

You might not know it, but your signature is in violation of our signature policy. All signatures must contain a link to your user and talk pages on this wiki. Currently, your signature contains neither, and it forces users to leave our wiki. You may certainly have a link to your primary wiki in your signature, but you can't "trick" people who just want to leave you a message into leaving w:c:tardis. Off-site redirection is a trait common to many spamming efforts. If you need help creating a new signature that will behave differently on different wikis, please see help:signatures.

Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
