Now, here was decided that Death Comes to Time is not DWU material. That's not what I'm debating.

What I am asking is if I jumped the gun on my edits on the pages for the Minister of Chance and Tannis, and should have dabed them in a similar way that I did for a few Doctor Who Unbound characters, or at the very least, mentioned something on the behind the scenes section.

Also, I notice that in the code for Canisian, it mentions that there's an erm, mention in PROSE: Trading Futures. Unfortunately, the page's main section doesn't bring them up at all. Should Canisian and Alpha Canis One just be deleted anyway? -- Tybort (talk page) 19:49, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Could you expound upon your concerns, please? I don't see anything wrong with your edits at Minister of Chance and Tannis. I mean, sure, they could additionally use a behind the scenes section referring to DCTT — but you seem to have sussed the in-universe section.
Haven't really looked at Canisian and Alpha Canis One yet.

Okay. I've looked at and fixed those last two. Not much needed to be done, aside from firmly using {{notdwu}} and adding appropriate non-DWU cats. I'm still not clear what you mean by having "jumped the gun" on the other two articles, though.

The rule isn't that nothing from Death Comes to Time can be mentioned on this wiki, only that it shouldn't appear in the primary, in-universe sections. These absolutely need to have the old information restored within the "behind the scenes" sections, unless the goal is to make this wiki as uninformative as possible. Lemme try to do a temporal orbit and un-butcher this mess. -- Rowan Earthwood 17:17, August 4, 2012 (UTC)
Although, there is something I'm uncertain about and I'd like to get opinions on. The Minister of Chance is never mentioned by name in The Gallifrey Chronicles, which makes an article named for him based primarily on the brief description of him in the novel problematic. While it was surely Lance Parkin's intention that this was the Minister of Chance, he's never named as such in the source, so writing authoritatively that one of the survivors of Gallifrey's destruction was the Minister seems misleading. Probably it would be best just to write a completely out-of-universe article on him and write "a character matching the description of the Minister was implied in the novel The Gallifrey Chronicles to be one of only five survivors of Gallifrey's destruction in The Ancestor Cell. Or something to that effect. -- Rowan Earthwood 17:25, August 4, 2012 (UTC)

Honestly, we're losing so much information (the infobox, the illustration, actor's name and so on) that I think it'd be far more useful to make the Death Comes to Time Tannis the primary focus of the article. I'd suggest restoring that article much as it was, putting some kind of "OMG NON-CANON" warning to satisfy the, uh, perfectly legitimate concerns of the very reasonable people who have concerns about things like that, and splitting off the Tannis mentioned in The Gallifrey Chronicles into its own article. The Gallifrey Chronicles doesn't even state that Tannis is a Time Lord; all we have from that source is a name. I suspect that Lance Parkin had the idea that Death Comes to Time happened exactly as depicted in the webseries, but was then undone because Larna (who I think is probably a version of Susan Foreman, somehow escaped from the Infinity Doctors universe), went back into the past and warned people in time to prevent that timeline from happening. I suspect that, but we can't say that because the book doesn't explicitly say so. For all we can prove, it's a completely different character named Tannis, and so should probably have its own article. Maybe there could be a Tannis (Death Comes to Time) article and a Tannis (The Gallifrey Chronicles) article. The brief description of the Minister of Chance in The Gallifrey Chronicles is too vague to merit an article at all. -- Rowan Earthwood 17:44, August 4, 2012 (UTC)

Character, race, or organization, really. Larna mentions Faction Paradox, the Sonatarans, and Omega in the same sentence with Tannis, so Tannis could really be an organization or species for all the clues the book gives us. I don't think the fact that Tannis is also the name of a character in Death Comes to Time is sufficient to conflate the two. -- Rowan Earthwood 17:48, August 4, 2012 (UTC)
I quite agree. The rule is not that information about DCTT people can't exist on the wiki. And like you said, this info can be in the BTS section. What Tybort was doing was merely a first step: redaction of the information just back to information from valid sources. If Rowan has now reacted to Tybort by wishing to go back in and re-add this information, then everything has worked out well. It's certainly not "a mess". It's just pruning and re-growth.
I also have no problem with splitting the Tannis articles, as long as the DCTT Tannis is clearly marked {{notdwu}}, and there's a tophat {{you may}} statement linking both articles.
