Series 3 (Torchwood)
Series 3 of Torchwood will have the characters Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones. The series will consist of just one continuous story, delivered over 5 consecutive nights. The series will have a new producer: Peter Bennett. Euros Lyn who directed many Doctor Who episodes will direct the entire Series. The first and last eisodes will be written by Russell T Davies, who is also writing the overall story arc, one episode will be written by James Moran and two episodes will be written by John Fay. Production on this series will start in August 2008 for expected broadcast in spring 2009. It will air on BBC1 in a post-watershed slot.
The only confirmed cast members for Series 3 John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd. The ending of Doctor Who Season 4 suggested the possibility of Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) and Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke) going to work for Torchwood, however as of July 2008 their involvement has not been confirmed; indeed, the announced casting of Agyeman in a major role in a new series for ITV entitled Law & Order: London, which is also expected to enter production in August, will likely preclude her involvement.
At the San Diego Comic Con in July 2008, Julie Gardner confirmed that the character of Toshiko Sato is deceased, which likely precludes actress Naoko Mori from appearing in Series 3; however it should be noted that she did attend the Torchwood panel event in San Diego, an unusual thing for an actor whose character has been killed off.
The name of the five part series was revealed in the offical Torchwood Magazine as "Children of Earth"
