- The US premiere of Season 28 on the SciFi channel is scheduled for 29 September.
- Rumors have surfaced of a new spinoff series featuring Sarah Jane Smith, titled, Sarah Jane Investigates, and that Footballer's Wives star Zoe Lucker will appear as the Rani in the upcoming season.
- David Maloney, who directed "Genesis of the Daleks" and other classic episodes of the original series, has passed on. He first worked on the series in 1965 as a production assistant on "The Time Meddler." By 1968, he was in the director's chair for the surreal adventure "The Mind Robber" and oversaw Patrick Troughton's final story as the Doctor, "The War Games."
- Peter Hawkins the man who helped create the terrifying voice of the Daleks, has died.
- Freema Agyeman will star as new companion Martha Jones in Season 29, says leaked BBC press release.[1]

Marco Polo (TV story)
The TARDIS lands in Central Asia in 1289, where the First Doctor and his companions fall in with Marco Polo as his caravan makes its way along the fabled Silk Road from the Pamir Plateau, across the treacherous Gobi Desert and over the Himalayas to end up in Peking at the height of its imperial power.
Along the way they face many dangers, from natural hazards to assassination attempts from a Mongol warlord. The Doctor strikes up a friendship with Kublai Khan in his summer palace, before eventually departing again in the TARDIS, which has been carried with them across thousands of miles.
