Patsy was a female mudlark in Victorian London.

She found the body of Buller floating in the Thames. She brought it to the attention of the Metropolitan Police in 1889. She rather enjoyed the gruesome sight. (TV: The Talons of Weng-Chiang)

She later assisted Henry Gordon Jago and George Litefoot in their investigations in the 1890s. (AUDIO: Jago & Litefoot & Patsy)

Behind the scenes

This character was originally called a "ghoul" not in the sense of "an evil spirit or phantom that eat corpses", but in the sense of "a person morbidly interested in death or disaster". (Oxford Dictionary Online)

Actress Patsy Smart removed her false teeth to play this part, handing them in a handkerchief to director David Maloney. (DCOM: The Talons of Weng-Chiang)

She was eventually named "Patsy" in her audio appearances after the actress who originally played her on television.
