Patsy was a female mudlark in Victorian London with a proclivity for gory sights. Throughout the 1890s, this taste found much fulfillment as she hovered on the margins of many of the Doctor's adventures and Jago and Litefoot's investigations.
Mulberry Gride described her as "a malodorous old hag", (AUDIO: Jago & Litefoot & Patsy) while Jago described as "peripatetic". (AUDIO: Higson & Quick)

She had a sister who came to live in Yorkshire. (PROSE: The Ghoul)
Prior to Jeremiah Castle being hanged in the 1860s, Patsy served as the Queen of Jacob's Island. (AUDIO: Jago & Litefoot & Patsy)
She found the body of Joseph Buller floating in the Thames. She brought it to the attention of the Metropolitan Police in 1889. She rather enjoyed the gruesome sight. (TV: The Talons of Weng-Chiang)
In 1892, she visited Darkover House to look for scraps in the bins, only to get a glimpse the living snowmen laying siege to the house. She then bore witness to the fatal fall of a girl, (PROSE: The Ghoul) Clara Oswin Oswald, who had been pushed from the Eleventh Doctor's solid cloud by the Ice Governess. (TV: The Snowmen)
In 1893, she visited her sister in Yorkshire, and found another body — this time a man whose skin had turned a blistered red, (PROSE: The Ghoul) one of the victims of the "Crimson Horror". (TV: The Crimson Horror)
Back in London, later in 1893, she was arrested. Her cell was next to a murderer's, (PROSE: The Ghoul) Clarence DeMarco. (TV: The Name of the Doctor) The Whisper Men stopped by her cell and attempted to charger her with a message to the Doctor, but, when she confessed that she didn't know anything about the Doctor, they chose the murderer as their messenger instead. In 1894, she told Percival Quick about a body she found, but there wasn't much of it left when they found it. (AUDIO: The Monstrous Menagerie) In December of the same year, she told Quick about a strange creature with four arms and two heads. (AUDIO: The Wax Princess)
She later assisted Henry Gordon Jago and Professor George Litefoot in several of their investigations in the 1890s. This happened after she found the beast of the Themes when it washed up on her patch. She was helping as she wanted to get her fish back. She told Litefoot and Jago about Jeremiah Castle. (AUDIO: Jago & Litefoot & Patsy) She started to feel strange after meeting the Darkling Façade and fought a police officer. She started to hide the barrels of the amniotic fluid of the Façade. In 1898, she saw the Tyrannosaur in the River Thames. She was then confronted with the Half-Face Man, who told her she had "nice skin" and invited her to eat at Mancini's Family Restaurant. She gladly accepted the offer, (PROSE: The Ghoul) not realising that the Restaurant was a front for the Clockwork Droids, who murdered the customers and harvested their bodies for spare parts. - This character was originally credited as "Ghoul" in the sense of "a person morbidly interested in death or disaster".[1]
- Actress Patsy Smart removed her false teeth to play this part, handing them in a handkerchief to director David Maloney. (DCOM: The Talons of Weng-Chiang)
- She was eventually named "Patsy" in her audio appearances after the actress who originally played her on television. (BFX: Jago & Litefoot: Series Eight)
