Trobe was affected with some time distortion, called a chronological infection. He cycled through his 90 year life in seconds, which was time looped. He knew that he was poorly when the Sixth Doctor asked him, as a child. As a teenager he became a bit aggressive. In middle age he told the Doctor how he an Warma created a Chronon bomb.
